To whom it may Concern,

It is with great enthusiasm and respect that I write to you about James Alexander Bond.

I have known James for 20 years, and have enjoyed watching his directing career blossom and his reputation grow. In February 2011, I had the good fortune of hiring James to direct Off Square Theatre Company’s production of “The 39 Steps”.  It was a challenging task to pull off the sight gags and physical comedy on a 3/4 thrust stage, and we were working on a very tight budget. James mounted a brilliant production that our audiences are still buzzing about. He has a knack for creative problem solving, he takes care and time with the text, and he knows how to coax excellence from actors. James sets high standards and communicates well to achieve his vision. He was an absolute delight to work with: smart, resourceful, clever, and patient.

Also of note, having James in residence was a perfect opportunity for him to lead a Shakespeare workshop with our youth conservatory students. James led a delightful 3-day workshop with the students (ages 12-16), many of whom were fearful of the text but by the end of the workshop approached it with confidence and curiosity.

Working with James Alexander Bond is an instant reminder of why I love working in theatre. He is not only dedicated and talented, but he has a generous sense of humor, an open heart, and a sincerely kind presence. He makes the rehearsal room a place of focus, energy, and camaraderie. I eagerly anticipate his return in September 2011 to direct our production of “The Understudy”, and hope there will be other projects we can hire him for in the future.

It is with highest regard that I recommend to you the very talented James Alexander Bond.

Best Regards,
